T5 High Speed Steel Application

T5 High Speed Steel Heat Treatment

Usually, T5 high speed steel is preheated to 820~870℃, then quickly heated to the quenching temperature of 1270~1290℃ (salt bath furnace) or 1280~1300℃ (box furnace), kept warm for a period of time, and finally heated in water and oil. , or rapid cooling in air to obtain austenite structure and high hardness.

After quenching, the T5 high-speed steel is sublimated in tempering at 540 to 560°C. It is tempered twice and held for at least 2 hours each time to reduce residual stress and improve toughness and stability.

3. Harden
Slowly preheat T5 tool steel to 820-870°C, then evenly heat to austenitizing temperature, salt bath 1277°C, controlled atmosphere furnace 1288°C, then salt bath or thermal quenching or warm bath about 550°C.

(2) Delivery hardness: (other processing methods) ≤ 302HB; (annealing) ≤ 285HB. Sample heat treatment system and quenching and tempering hardness: ≥63HRC.
