DIN 1.2080 Cool Work Mold Steel is used in cold Dies & tooling application that required the achievement of high degree of accuracy in hardening & tempering, cold rolls, powder metal tooling and blanking and trimming dies, blanking dies for paper and plastics, shear blades , cold die punches , Ejector pins etc.
Heat treatment can significantly improve the process performance of metal materials and the use of performance, the vast majority of mechanical parts must go through heat treatment.
Heat treatment :
DIN 1.2080 Cool Work Mold Steel requires hardening and tempering to reach maximum properties .For maximum accuracy,The part of DIN 1.2080 Cool Work Mold Steel should be stress relieved after roughing operations ,Stress should be relieved at 648℃ for one hour and cold slowly.
Annealing:
Heat DIN 1.2080 Cool Work Mold Steel uniformly to 850-870℃,soak thoroughly, then slow furnace cool at a rate of not more than 25℃ per hour to 650℃。This part may be air cold .This should result in a maximum hardness of brenill 248.DIN 1.2080 Cool Work Mold Steel
Tem pering:
DIN 1.2080 Cool Work Mold Steel should be cold in room temperature and should be tempered immediately .This part should be placed in tempering furnace and increased slowly to the desired tempering temperature.Tempering one inch of thickness is required.
Hardening:
DIN 1.2080 Cool Work Mold Steel is extremely sensitive if overhested during hardening ------ Do not overheat.
Pre heat slowly to 800-850℃,then raise rapidly to 950-970℃ and soak until completely equalised .Quench in oil.
